Mattress Care

Getting the perfect night’s sleep is more than just finding the perfect mattress, some relatively easy care and maintenance can ensure your bed stays in prime condition to keep offering you the perfect night’s sleep.

Just like a new car will over time get dirty and require washing and a service once a year, your new mattress requires a similar, if less expensive kind of maintenance.  Failure to look after your mattress will result in a reduced mattress lifespan.  A lack of maintenance may result in your mattress getting dirty, suffering from inconsistencies such as isolated compression (one specific area being lower than the other).

Your new mattress set has been carefully designed with your comfort and support in mind.  At first, it may seem quite different from the mattress you have been sleeping on. This is normal, and you will soon become adjusted to the extra comfort and support of your sleep set. Follow these helpful hints on mattress care and your purchase will provide years of added comfort and performance.

Rotating Your Mattress

Rotating your mattress on a regular basis is the easiest way to increase the longevity of your mattress. Forming part of the care and maintenance of your mattress, the main benefits to rotating regularly are:

  • Consistent level of support
  • Continued comfort
  • Reduced risk of sagging

When we talk about rotating we mean spinning the mattress like the hands of a clock, so the head end becomes the foot end and the foot end becomes the head end.

Cleaning

Clean your bed every other month with a soft brush to keep it clear of dust and fluff. Treat stains and spills immediately, take off the sheets as soon as possible and strip the mattress back to its core.

Clean up any liquids with towels and then allow the mattress to air dry. Do not use detergents or chemical cleaners as this may bleach, disintegrate the fabric and never use a heat source which could damage or warp the materials.

Support It

Make sure your bed has the right kind of support, mattress requires a firm, solid foundation. A little breathability can also be helpful for air circulation and the base should be able to support the weight of the mattress and sleepers.

Edge Integrity

Try to avoid sitting on the edge if you can.  If your mattress is foam encased, it has extra protection, but even with foam encasement the sides can still wear out.  When the side of your mattress becomes weakened, it can travel to the centre of the mattress.

Damage to the Mattress

We can’t stress enough, especially when opening your mattress that cut’s or damage caused to the foam will affect the condition of the foam and ultimately the mattress comfort depending on how severe.  Cuts and damage are not covered by our warranty.

Sleep Well

Sleep is essential to our overall health and well-being. It allows our minds and bodies to rest properly so that we may wake refreshed and ready for the day ahead. It affects every aspect of our lives; from our appearance and physical ability to our attitude and mental prowess

A new mattress is the centrepiece of a better night’s sleep. It’s important to protect your investment by following these simple tips, so you can experience optimal sleep comfort for years to come.
