Others

A footboard is a solid board at the end of the bed which runs along the width of the bed, and is usually upholstered. When we make a bed with a footboard, we make sure it matches the fabric, colour and style of the bed that has been selected. We hand upholster all our beds, including footboards along with our headboards to the same high quality standards across all our bedroom furniture.

Many premium footboards feature deep, luxurious padding with soft cushioning, adding to the exquisite look and feel of the bed, particularly with chesterfield-inspired designs that feature button detailing.

Beds that include footboards feature the solid board at the end of the bed along the width of the bed, usually upholstered.

Footboards come in all shapes and sizes, and are not present on all beds. It depends on the size and style of the bed, as to whether a footboard will be included and featured as part of the bed. Footboards can feature on any type of bed, whether a standard bed or one that includes storage such as a Divan or Ottoman. Sleigh beds almost always feature a foodboard, as this gives the end of the bed the Sleigh feel.

The height of a footboard can vary greatly. Some can be low and flush with the base of the bed or the mattress for a clean, subtle effect. Others can be very high, rising to the height of the headboard in some cases and framing the bed. The height and size of the footboard depends on the style and design of the bed, and the feel of the room.

Footboards are usually fixed to the end of the bed in a similar way to a strut headboard.  With two or more firm fixing points, they can be aligned and then tightened with a screwdriver to ensure the footboard fits firmly and flush with the end of the bed.
