An end opening ottoman storage bed is a type of bed that incorporates a spacious storage space underneath the mattress. They utilise gas pistons to create an easy-lift mechanism, providing quick and easy access to the storage space.
All you need to do is gently lift the bed frame from the end of the bed and let the gas powered mechanism do the rest. It will hold itself in place too, providing you with hands free access to the storage space.
The storage space is easily accessed by simply pulling the foot of the bed base, allowing the gas-assisted lifting mechanism to do the work of raising the mattress base.
Any mattress type can be used with an end opening ottoman bed. However, you need to consider the mattress weight to ensure the gas lift can raise it easily, as well as whether the base has slats or a solid top.
The weight capacity varies but standard ottomans are often designed to lift 40-60 kg for just the mattress weight. Heavy duty versions can hold more. Check the specifications for your particular model.
Ottoman beds are available in various sizes to accommodate different room dimensions and storage needs.
The common sizes include:
Single (3' x 6'3"), Small Double (4' x 6'3"), Double (4'6" x 6'3"), King Size (5' x 6'6"), and Super King Size (6' x 6'6").
